PARIS - DAY 2

Awake at half 6?! WHY?!... because I had a coach to catch to Versaille... to walk down the same corridors as Marie Antoinette.

Strolling around the once home of the Kings and Queens, it was hard to imagine what this mansion would have been like back in the day ... with everything framed, on display, behind barriers, and so museum like, it no longer felt personal ... ALTHOUGH, at this time, space equalled luxury, so most furniture was hidden behind secret doors and all folded away, so maybe this was more realistic than what I first thought. Take a peek at this fascinating place, photographs don't do justice ...

I particulary liked the bedrooms and how highly decorative the beds were.

How ornate the ceilings were amazed me, in some ways there was so much to take in, it felt like it couldn't be fully appreciated.

The textures, patterns and colours of the Wallpapers were stunning ... I'm not saying I would decorate my whole house in them, but I would certainly wallpaper a feature wall in a room in one ... truly LOVE how rich they are!

Due to the snow and the freezing cold weather, walking around the gardens did not appear too appealing ... but here are some views out of the windows...

After taking in the magnificence and over-indulgence of the palace, we quickly ran over to a nearby Creperie and Cafe to warm and fill ourselves up. I tried a Gallette ... YUM

and then finished this off with Chocolate Cake ... DOUBLE YUM.

Coach journey back to Bobigny where our hotel is situated, a quick power nap, shower, and dressed, ready to get on the metro heading to Bon Nouvelle metro station, where the social was being held at Cafe De La Ville.
Cafe De La Ville - definately recommend this treasure! A busy and warm atmosphere, with fantastic food ... certainly one of the best 3 burgers I have ever eaten!! The unpainted walls added a raw and unpolished feeling, and the dramatic dim lighting along with the captured butterflies displayed on the wall and rows of almost labatory bottles along with the dolls heads really intrigued me, giving the restaurant/bar an underground high class basement image.

After hearing down the grapevine, and from reading the Paris Touists guide book, Myself Abi and Angel decided to head down to Bastille to go for a couple of drinks in a few Bars. Number One in the 'Fashionable Hangouts' section of the Paris Guide Book was a Bar in Bastille called Zero Zero ... I'm not completely sure what I was expecting, but it suddenly wasn't what I encountered! It was about the size of our hotel room (Tiny) rammed with locals who had congregated because they had all met on a special internet site, the walls had been written over, and the furniture had basically been trashed, with a loud system in place banging out some heavy beats ... All in all there was certainly nothing 'Fashionable' about it ... not even the people! I am still in shock that it was in the tourists guide, I would love to know the reasoning behind it! Put it this way, if you had seen this place from the outside and you were looking for somewhere fashionable to go for a couple of drinks, you wouldn't have stepped inside. BUT I had a really good time in here, the locals were very friendly, and told us another bar to go to after in Bastille called Bario Latino. The atmosphere felt like everybody knew eachother in there, and they really made us welcome, the amosphere was buzzing ... if your not afraid of slumming it a little bit, listening to some heavy beats, you should experience it!

After here we took up the locals recommendation and headed over to the trendy and sleek Bario Latino, absolutely loved this place ... the music, the decor, the whole experience! Modern music with a salsa/latino spin on it. All the locals were salsa dancing, and we gave it a little go too... fun!!!

A long long tiring non-stop day ... my narrower than single bed is starting to become appealing!
